Girls basketball reclassifications for four-year stint starting in 2007 announced

From
ihsaa.org

IHSAA Commissioner Blake Ress announced Dec. 21 the enrollment figures
and classifications for each IHSAA member school in several sports for coming
school years.

The enrollment figures were submitted by the IHSAA member schools to the
Indiana Department of Education this fall. Those numbers
ΓΆβ?¬β?? the total of boys and
girls in grades 9-12
ΓΆβ?¬β??
are used to determine the classifications in the sports of football, baseball,
boys and girls basketball, softball, and volleyball.

All those sports, with the exception of football, are on a four-year
classification cycle with these figures taking effect in 2007-08 and running
through 2010-11.
(Football,
which is divided into five classes, is now reclassified every two years with
the new figures affecting the 2007-08 and 2008-09 school years.)

Sectional assignments in each sport will be announced this spring.
Schools will be placed in the same sectional groupings in baseball, boys and girls basketball, softball, and volleyball.

Four schools that joined the IHSAA in 2006 are included in the
compilation but will not be eligible to compete in IHSAA tournaments until
2008-09. Those schools are: 21st Century at Fall Creek, Bowman Academy,
Herron, and Indianapolis Metropolitan.

Also, per IHSAA By-Law, C-2-3c, a school may opt to play up one or more
classes in a specific sport for that classification period by notifying the
Association Office.
