Two-time defending state champion Kamehameha-Kapalama Warriors received the top seed in the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I State Championship tournament.  The ILH champion finished the season with an 18-1 record and will receive a first-round bye.

Other teams receiving first-round byes include OIA champion and No. 2 seed Moanalua Na Menehune (11-4), MIL champion and No. 3 seed Kamehameha-Maui Warriors (10-2) and BIIF champion and No. 4 seed Kamehameha-Hawaii Warriors (14-1).

The tournament begins with the first round on Wednesday, Oct. 31, and continues thru Saturday, Nov. 3.  All Division I matches will be held at Hilo Civic Auditorium.

A tie in the state tournament calculations has resulted in a playoff for the final spot in the tournament between the OIA sixth place Kailua Surfriders (7-8) with the BIIF second place Waiakea Warriors (12-3).  That match is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29, at Radford High School gymnasium at 3:00 p.m.  Admission prices are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students K-12 and seniors 62 and better.  The winner will face the OIA third place Roosevelt Rough Riders (11-3) in the first round.

In the Division II tournament, ILH champion Hawaii Baptist Academy received the top seed and the first-round bye.  The Eagles are 14-4 coming into the tournament and will face the winner of the Waimea/Hawaii Prep match in the quarterfinal round.

Rounding out the top four seeds are MIL champion and No. 2 seed Seabury Hall Spartans (12-0), BIIF champion and No. 3 seed Hilo Vikings (15-1), and OIA champion and No. 4 seed Farrington Governors (12-4).

The unseeded league champion Waimea Menehune will face the third place team out of the BIIF, the Hawaii Prep Ka Makani (13-3), in the first round.

The tournament begins Wednesday, Oct. 31 at McKinley and Radford High School gymnasiums, and concludes on Saturday, Nov. 3 with the consolation, fifth place, third place and championship matches at McKinley High School gymnasium.
