Eric
Gordon and Eâ??Twaun Moore were on opposing teams in the Class 4A State
Championship game March 24 and will be rivals next year at IU
and Purdue, but the duo share â??teammateâ? status on this yearâ??s Parade
All-American
teams.
In addition, Indiana girls Ta’Shia Phillips of Brebeuf and
Skylar Diggins of South Bend Washington will be included when the girls teams
are announced April 8.
The boys teams, which were announced in the April 1 edition
of Parade Magazine, listed Gordon as a first team All-American selection while
Moore was third team. A total of 40
players were honored as the magazine listed 10 players for their first through
fourth team All-American squads.
Gordon, a 6â??4â? shooting guard for North Central
(Indianapolis), finished as the stateâ??s second leading scorer â??? averaging 28.9
points per game, including two 50-point performances â??? and is expected to be
named the stateâ??s Mr. Basketball award before becoming an Indiana Hoosier. He participated in the March 28 McDonaldâ??s
All-American game in Louisville, Ky.
Joining Gordon on Paradeâ??s first team are O.J. Mayo, Kyle
Singler, Derrick Rose, Austin Freeman, Donte Greene, Nolan Smith, Nick
Calathes, Jerryd Bayless, and Parade National Player of the Year Kevin Love.
Moore, who averaged 21.9 points for East Chicago Central,
had a game-high 28 points and was named the Mental Attitude Award winner as his
team beat Gordon and North Central, 78-73, in the 4A championship. Moore is a member of Purdueâ??s highly rated incoming
recruiting class of four Indiana high school players.
Both are expected locks for the upcoming announcement of the
Indiana All-Star squad that will take on Kentucky this summer.
In addition, HoosierAuthority.com has learned that Phillips and Diggins will be on
the girls All-American teams to be released this weekend.
The South Bend Tribune
reported that Phillips, Indianaâ??s 2007 Miss Basketball, will be second team
All-American, while Diggins will garner third team honors.
Phillips, a 6â??6â? center for the 3A state champion Brebeuf
Braves, filled out stat sheets with averages of 22.2 points, a
state-leading 15.3 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game this past season. Originally a Purdue University recruit, she
is currently uncommitted. She recently
participated in the McDonaldâ??s All-American game as well as the WBCA
All-American game.
Diggins is just halfway through what could become the most
prolific career in Indiana girls basketball history. The 5â??9â? guard is coming off a sophomore
season in which she ranked in the Top 10 in the state in scoring (24.3),
assists (6.1), and steals (4.7). Diggins
scored 27 points and set a state championship record with 17 rebounds in
Washingtonâ??s 4A title win, 84-64, over Columbus East on March 3.
